The unemployment rate in USA has dropped surprisingly in July. Experts consider it as one of the strongest signs so far that the worst economic recession and think the Great Depression might be ending. However, around 14.5 million citizens are still jobless in the USA. Employers dismissed 247,000 jobs in July. The amount is less than forecasters had expected.

Labor Department reported on Friday revealed the unemployment rate decline to 9.4% July, compared to 9.5% in June. The statistics said that for the first time unemployment rate has slumped since April 2008. President Barack Obama said a $787 billion economic stimulus plan is taken and it would be signed within few months of taking office to stop the downturn from getting worse. Nonetheless, there is a warning of a fragile job market.

AOL is receiving new leadership yet again; only two years after the outgoing executives were selected to turn around the struggling company. Now, for a new guidance a Google executive has been hired as the latest CEO of AOL. AOL’s parent company, Time Warner’s chief executive Jeffrey Bewkes said Google senior vice president Tim Armstrong would take over as chairman and chief executive, replacing Randy Falco. Bewkes said,

Tim is the right executive to move AOL into the next phase of its evolution. At Google, Armstrong helped build one of the most successful media teams in the history of the internet, helping to make Google the most popular online search advertising platform in the world for direct and brand marketers.

Ron Grant, AOL’s president and chief operating officer, will leave with Falco in a few weeks, who took the job in November 2006.

AOL has liable declining advertising profits for its declining fortunes. Its yearly income cut down 20 per cent in 2008, to $4.2 billion. The band is at the heart of a surrounding of layoffs in which it waits for to shed about 10 per cent of its employees, or 700 workers.

It is expecting that, time Warner’s struggling Internet unit will be headed by Tim Armstrong, who worked at Google for nearly nine years. Roger Kay, president of Endpoint Technologies Associates said,

If there’s any company that understands the market AOL should be in, it’s Google.

Others, Rob Enderle, a tech industry forecaster said,

When you get somebody from Google like this, it usually means that you’re paying them a ton of money and you’re hoping for a miracle.

Providence-based US firm Textron Inc., one of the world’s leading maker of corporate jets, is going to expand its job cuts to 2,200 amid global economic crisis. The exclusive maker of Cessna aircrafts and Bell helicopters announced the figure included earlier stated cuts in its Cessna and Bell divisions. Textron employs 44,000 staff worldwide, did not rule out “further headcount reductions” and other additional cost-saving measures.

Lewis Campbell, Textron chief executive officer, is accelerating a process to make this company more professional and efficient amid the worldwide financial crisis. The company is keeping the finance divisions that directly provide its manufacturing consumers as they serve one-stop shopping. Textron extended its revolving aircraft, as well, finance facility by one year and soaked reserves at Textron Finance Corp., which is based in Providence, too. On the other hand, the company declared it would cut its finance operations.

At this instant, Textron expects revenue from its manufacturing division to be in the range of between $300m to $330m in the fourth quarter of this fiscal year, decline from earlier forecasted $400m and for the whole company, they forecasts a net loss of 81 to 91 cents a share. Many other companies all over the world have been forced to announce enormous job cuts and modify down their outlooks amid falling requirement as customers pare all but necessary spending.

3 November Monday, Yahoo Inc., one of the biggest internet giants, announced that it has hired ex-executive of Microsoft Corp., Jeff Dossett to run the company’s news and entertainment web sites in the USA. In most recent times, He was general manager of Microsoft’s MSN.com. Dossett, an accomplished and skilled mountain climber, is going to replace Scott Moore, another former Microsoft alumnus. Moore helped program MSN as well before joining Yahoo Company in the year of 2005. After joining Dossett in the company, Scott is leaving to pursue new opportunities.

Scott Moore spent the past 3 1/2 years steering a number of the most-read and important sections of Yahoo’s popular web sites. He joins a long line of Yahoo executives who have defected throughout the last two years as the Sunnyvale-based company and struggles to remove financial funk that has already hammered its stock price. On the other hand, no less than 1,500 Yahoo workers, or roughly 10 percent of the company’s employees, will be cut off before the end of current year as part of a cost-cutting purge.

Besides, Dossett yahoo has already recruited Joanne Bradford as top advertising sales executive in the USA. Bradford and Dossett, both worked together at Microsoft before joined here.
